Children can sit in it from the time they can support their head very well on their own, about 6 months, until they are 20 kilograms, which is well into the late toddler years. The seat is also perfectly comfortable for these long trips, as the child’s seat is anatomically-shaped to fit the child and is also naturally molded into the ‘S’ shape of the adult’s back with Comfort Adjust padding. The waistbelt also moves, allowing for more room and flexibility, and the harness system also makes sure that child stays secure even after a little jostling around on a trail! To add to the safety features, the carrier is adorned with reflective piping, so that even if it becomes dark before you get home, others will be able to see you.

Even with all of the features, if this pack is worth it’s weight in gold, it’s worth a lot! Consider that the Explorer is 2.6 kg all on its own, before placing child, any toys, or accessories in it. The carrier seats any child from six months up to 18 kilograms, making the total weight on the adult’s back approximately 20 kilograms. That’s a lot of weight and while this is still a great carrier, don’t buy it thinking that you actually will use it until the child is four years old, you may not want to. But for the first two or three years of life, it may be worth it if you plan on taking long treks.

If you really want something bad to say about the Bush Baby Premier Carrier, it may be that it can only be used after the baby is 6 months but considering how truly deluxe this model of carrier is, it’s well worth the few months wait!
