The Ultralight Convertible Carrier from LittleLife has everything that you will find with its predecessor, the Ultralight Carrier but it has even more features that truly make it everything you could ever need. Plus of course, it all folds up into a backpack, making it easier to take with you on long trips in the car or just when your little one wants to get down and stretch their legs for a bit. 

Your baby will be extremely comfortable in this carrier with an anatomically-shaped seat plus a comfort bib that will keep their tiny face protected. When the bib gets dirty, it comes off easily and can be thrown in the wash for the next trip! Baby will also have lots to do with the easy-access toy loop that can easily attach to most toys. What this carrier doesn’t have that the non-convertible option offers is stirrups that come right with the carrier but the Ultralight Convertible does have stirrup attachments so you can clip them on when your child’s legs become too long to sit comfortably without them. 

And you’ll be comfortable too with the padding that’s placed strategically in the back and shoulders so that you don’t feel any strain from the pack. And there’s also an anchor point so that you can feel safe placing your child inside it and the top handles will let you pick up this carrier and go – whether it’s unfolded into a carrier or all zipped up into a backpack! The i.Go baby carrier from Cybex is truly something so innovative that there’s been nothing like it to ever hit the market. This baby carrier uses a horizontal position for your baby so they can lie naturally and have their spines in proper alignment and without putting too much weight on them, especially at a time when they are so young and still developing. The company also claims that this is the preferred mode of carrying infants by orthopedists. Later on when the baby grows, the position can be changed so baby will be sitting in the more traditional, vertical position. 

The baby can lay in the carrier on the very first day they are born and can remain in the horizontal position until they are approximately 4 months old, or 6 kilograms. After baby is 4 months of age they can then sit in the vertical position facing in, and starting at 6 months baby will also have the option of sitting in the vertical, facing out position and the carrier can be used until the baby is approximately 15 kilograms, which is when they’ll be a toddler!

The name really says it all! The Chicco Caddy Knapsack acts as a pack that will hold your child but also works as a caddy to tote everything around with you that you need. The child seat rests on a lightweight aluminum frame, which doubles as a stand when you need to sit the back, or the child down for a moment. Along the front of the carrier are heavy-duty padded shoulder straps that attach to the padded hip belt so that weight is distributed across the entire back and doesn’t solely rest on the parent’s shoulders. Although this does seem to be like sufficient weight distribution, it would be nice to see a wider hip belt and perhaps wider shoulder straps, especially on a pack that’s designed for extra-long treks such as this one. The shoulder strap does however have a handy cell phone pocket so it’s always within easy reach.

The Chicco Caddy Knapsack is suitable for children from about 6 months of age to until they are almost 2 years old, or weigh 15 kilograms. The height of the seat is easily adjustable so the carrier will grow along with your child and for when you just need to bring the carrier along with you, it folds up flat for easy transportation. The carrier also comes with a detachable pouch that can be carried on or off the carrier and is great for carrying toys, diapers, wipes, or extra snacks! Plus it has a sun canopy and a wind and rain cover so your baby will stay protected at all times! 

The Chicco Caddy Knapsack is a great carrier, with the exception that some may find the strap system uncomfortable after carrying the child for a significant time.

This carrier from Chicco looks great, stays true to its name, and will fall within anyone’s budget! The bold red and white colour makes it perfect for both mums and dads to wear and is constructed of soft fleece combined with easy-to-clean polyester. This carrier is extremely versatile, being able to be worn 3 different ways – sling-style for newborns; inward facing for 0 to 4 months, or outward facing for 4 months up. Baby will always be sitting in the utmost comfort with an insert that is also made from soft fleece and will provide baby with extra warmth during the chillier months and it can be taken out to reveal breathable fabric for the warmer months to add to baby’s comfort then too. The straps are adjustable to fit just about anyone and the dual buckle system will feel as secure as it holds. The Chicco Soft & Dream baby carrier also features a hood that can be used when nursing to enhance privacy. 

It’s important to keep in mind that this Chicco model, like most soft-shell carriers, has very little storage space and so will most likely not be suitable if you are thinking of taking baby out on longer hikes.

One of the main improvements in this model is that it features an individually adjustable neck support system so that baby’s head is always fully supported. The Active Carrier has also improved the parent’s shoulder straps, giving them more padding and installing a double strap system so that minimal weight is placed on the shoulders. This carrier can be worn from about one week of age until the child is 12 kilograms, which is about when the child is 1 to 1.5 years. The carrier can also be worn in three positions: forward-facing, rear-racing, and in the nursing position.

Keep in mind that this carrier was designed for active wear however, while it may be suitable for a day of running errands, taking a long walk, or roaming around the mall, it does not have any pockets or storage areas so for super long treks where you will be collecting things along the way or just have a lot of stuff to bring with you, you may want to look at something a bit more elaborate than this carrier.

With a stylish black and red design, this carrier was found at John Lewis for £73.

The price difference is remarkable however between the two products, with the Deuter Kid Comfort II costing a pricely £120 while the Comfort I only costs £89.99! The added feature of side loading may not be worth the additional £30 for those who just want the basic features, and it also should to be taken into consideration that the Comfort II does not come with the sun and rain cover.

When considering the Yamo, you may want to keep in mind that although the shoulder straps are padded, they are quite thinner than other models so on long treks, they may be prone to digging in to one’s shoulders. The Yamo also doesn’t have any compartments or pockets for stashing extra nappies, wipes, snacks, or anything else you and your child may need along the way so in addition to the carrier, you may have to bring along another bag anyway to hold all of your things. That being said, the Yamo is one of the best-looking designs on the market today and for £65.00, you may find that it’s perfect for those short strolls to the market.

This sling is most suitable for short walks or while out doing errands but may not be right for parents who want to take their child on longer or more ardurous journeys, such as on hikes. And you will have your choice of color with this sling as it comes in charcoal, natural, rouge, pistachio, olive and chocolate; but you will not have your choice of size as it comes in a one size fits all variety. The Close Baby Carrier does have a good price point considering that it can be used for 2 or 3 years and is available for £52.00

This carrier is without a doubt a great carrier for quality and comfort but the manufacturer’s themselves recommend using the head support and the sun/rain shade for optimal use – both of course are sold separately.
