With the hundreds and maybe even thousands of different baby carrier styles, it’s easy to become confused as to which one will ultimately be right for you and your baby. But you only need to look at how incredibly popular the baby wrap baby carrier has become to know that this style of baby carrier definitely holds some unique benefits over other carrier models. So, just what is a baby wrap carrier?

A baby wrap baby carrier is a large piece of wraparound fabric that can be tucked, tied, and wrapped around the parent; a large pocket on the front of the wrap is snug enough and comfortable enough to hold baby for hours. But don’t think that you can just take that old curtain or other piece of big fabric you have hanging around and wrap it around yourself to hold your baby. Wraparound baby carrier wraps have been approved for the purpose of holding a child for a long period of time, and they are also specially designed to fit perfectly around both parents and the child.

Some consumers are still shying away from the baby wrap carrier because they think that the only way to hold your child with it is by carrying them out front. But a wraparound carrier will let you carry your baby in front, in back, and even on your hip. The versatility of baby wrap carriers is just one reason why they are so popular!

Baby wrap baby carriers have been thought of as the most comfortable baby carrier on the market, and that’s what it all comes down to with this style! Add to that the fact that these wraps are known for coming in beautiful styles and designs, and you can see why that’s the wrap on baby wraps!

It’s not the 90s anymore! That was the decade when Baby Bjorn made a huge splash in the baby carrier market and revolutionized the way parents toted their babies around. And while Baby Bjorn is still coming out with some amazing products, there is a new carrier in town, and that’s the Moby Wrap. Moby Wraps have many advantages over Baby Bjorn, and they can carry your little ones from infancy until they’re around 35 pounds, which can be well past the toddler years. And once you start using them, you’ll see how much easier they can make your life!

One of the best things about Moby Wraps is that there are no snaps, clips, zippers, or other little mechanical parts that can easily snap off and become broken. Not only do these unecessary accessories compromise the quality of your wrap once they break off, they also compromise the safety of the precious cargo it’s holding. This is also an advantage when you throw Moby Wraps into the washing machine, which you can do again and again. Because there are no snaps or clips to get caught on the machine’s mechanism, you can be assured that your wrap will be in just as a good shape when it comes out of the washer as it was when it went in!

If you need to bring your baby carrier along with you for the ride while you travel, but don’t necessarily need to be using it the entire time, it folds up and can be easily tucked into a diaper bag or purse. And just as one more added benefit, the wrap can also be fitted for either men or women, all while you’re slipping it on!

No, this definitely isn’t the Baby Bjorn! But from the second you try on a Moby Wrap, you’ll understand why, and just what sets these bold and colourful wraps apart!

From: Halfords

The Kyo Metropolitan baby carrier is a product from Graco, a leading name in the baby gear industry. Although it’s said by Graco to be suitable for infants up to 9.9 kilograms, which is generally right up to their first birthday, most reviews and retailers recommend it for smaller children, newborn to six months approximately.

This wraparound sling-style carrier does let baby be close to you at all times, which is vital in those very early first few days and is worn on the parent’s chest with the baby facing either inward or outward. The shoulder straps are wide and slightly padded so that they won’t cause a lot of discomfort and there’s also a hip belt, that will help distribute baby’s weight. It comes in a stylish white and blue design and if you’re going out for more than just a short stroll, remember to bring along an extra bag – this carrier has no extra pockets or storage.

The Close Baby Carrier, available from Little Possums, is a carrier that has rings at the side for easy adjustment, just as a ring sling does but also has the wonderful features of a wraparound sling so that it’s easy to fit and wear and holds baby nice and snug and as the name suggests, close to the parent. The fabric is pure organic cotton and is so stretchable that it can fit toddlers up to 32 pounds or can be wrapped tightly enough to keep a newborn safe and secure. The parent has many positions to choose from when carrying baby as well including the cradle hold, which is most suitable for newborns, as well as carrying them in front, either inward or outward facing. Because the sling is made from two pieces of fabric that criss-cross in the front and back, the baby’s weight is evenly distributed so that it does not strain the shoulders or back.

This sling is most suitable for short walks or while out doing errands but may not be right for parents who want to take their child on longer or more ardurous journeys, such as on hikes. And you will have your choice of color with this sling as it comes in charcoal, natural, rouge, pistachio, olive and chocolate; but you will not have your choice of size as it comes in a one size fits all variety. The Close Baby Carrier does have a good price point considering that it can be used for 2 or 3 years and is available for £52.00

The Kari Me Sling offers parents a wonderful way to carry around their baby just as they did when the baby was in their belly – as though they were still part of them, snuggled up closely to the chest. Although this is certainly not the only position this sling offers – babies can also face out, on the hip, or on the back. Wearing the sling with the baby in the hip position transforms the sling to not only a carrier but also a privacy screen perfect for breastfeeding! The material is a cotton/lycra mix which makes it super stretchy and makes it easier for the sling to distribute the weight throughout almost the entire torso as it stretches across the shoulders, along the back, and then wraps around baby. The sling is machine-washable and can fold up tiny enough to fit into its own carry bag – unless you simply want to toss it in your nappie bag, which it’s also perfect for! The sling carries baby up to 33 pounds, which can be anywhere around the 1st or 2nd birthday, allowing you to get maximum use out of the sling! It’s also available in multiple colors including: black, blue, burgundy, lilac, and ochre.

Parents who like to wash and then tumble dry will find that they won’t be able to do this as the dryer will shrink the material and make it too small for baby and although it’s said to be perfect for everyone, it does only come in one size so you may want to try it on in the store before making your purchase! The sling can also be a little tricky to get on the first few times of wear but it does come with an instructional DVD to make it a little easier. You definitely can’t beat the price though at only £37.95, it’s one of the most competitively priced on the market!
