The Native Baby Carrier
Just when you thought there was nothing new in the world of baby carriers comes the new Native baby carrier. In truth, the Native baby carrier is nothing new – they’ve been around since 1992 but they didn’t receive public attention until the late 2000s. Today, the Native baby carrier is gaining even more in popularity, as people start to look less towards modern inventions for their children and want to get back to their roots.
The Native baby carrier is just that – a baby carrier that’s designed so the people of today can carry their children around just like Natives have been for centuries. On these baby carriers you’ll find not one zipper, snap, or strap – all of the things that all too often seem to only get in the way anyway. Instead you’ll get a large piece of soft cloth that can be shaped and moved in any way that you need to make it the most comfortable for you and your baby. In this way, Native baby carriers largely resemble the slings and pouches of today but again, they don’t have any of the unnecessary accessories that only make it harder to get your child in and out of the pouch.
And while we’re on the topic of that pouch – it’s large enough to fit a toddler but can be adjusted to hold the tiniest of newborn babies. Of course all of this is so that infants can be kept close to the parent’s heartbeat and comforted even when you’re doing errands or need to clean up around the home. Anything you need to do while having baby in the Native carrier can be done.
And just like wraps and slings, when you’re not using it to keep baby snuggly warm and close to your heart, just drape and fold away for easy storage. Sometimes it’s not about all that’s new and modern – it’s about finding way things used to be done, and realizing why they worked so well for so many years!
